Used this to find where an unpowered reciprocal goes. Found 12/2 unterminated cable in the breaker box. MAKE SURE THE RECEPTACLE IS DEAD BEFORE HOOKING TO OUTLET.!!!!

Pros: this is the old Progressive/Tempo/Greenlee 200ep and 77hp tone and probe kit. The circuit boards, case, tips, everything is identical. All the noname brand ones are this. It works as good as the original but there are a couple downsides.1. The probe was screechy at first. Dissassembly and reassembly fixed it. I think the screws were too tight from the factory.2. The polarity led on the tone generator was wired wrong. It should be green for correct red for reverse, mine has red for correct green for reverse. Ill remember that.3. There is cost cutting. The alligator clips are cheaper, the leads are a little thinner and an inch or 2 shorter and the plastic doest feel as heavy duity as the originals.Besides that for half the price of a 701k-g (minus the headphone jack, lanyard, metal tip, and rj45 coupler) I say its worth it. Just get one with free returns in case yours is a dud cuz my first one was. If you use routinely though get the tempo because its more heavy duity.

Works well as exactly what you expect of it and the price is right

This devise works very well as intended. The Negative reviews must be from folks that are not trained in their Skills as fault detectors. or not familiar with their use. It works as intended, as I worked in the Tele-Communiation world for over 40 years.

I bought this tester for fixing wire harness’s on 4 wheelers. This little tool mad it easy to find the broken circuits and bad switches. I highly recommend this tool as it made my job a lot easier and i was able to find and fix the problems rather quickly without having to gouging my wires. It was easy to hear and use. I give this tester 5 stars all day long

What a waste of money and time trying to get this thing to work The other brand I bought from Amazon worked much better seriously don't waste your efforts.There was no replacement head as advertised.It does not properly tone.Great for telephone line but who uses telephone landlines anymore.Disappointed in Amazon for selling it.Bill

If you need to trace some wires, this tool is a crazy good value for what it is. In my case, a circuit opened. After crawling around in the attic and running into a dead end, I ordered this and narrowed down the spot enough to know where to open the wall. Sure enough, open circuit right where the tone ended.The tool allows you to trace a circuit through walls. This saved me from ripping into a tiled backsplash. I also used it to trace circuits back to the breaker for circuit mapping.Saved me thousands of dollars or countless hours of tracing.
