The Perfect Solution For Vintage Fittings
I own a vintage designer desk lamp that used to belong to my late father, and I'm keen to keep using it. Originally it used incandescent spot lamps - the sort with a flat head and silver coating on the inside of the base. You can't buy those any more, and I've been making do with normal LED bulbs which looked daft and did not really work. Then I discovered these, and they're perfect - at last I have a directional spotlight bulb of the correct shape. The colour temperature is slightly cooler than an incandescent, but we are all used to that these days, and a real incandescent feels rather too yellow to modern taste. So the colour temperature is just right as well. On top of that, the diameter is actually the requisite 80mm, so it will fit in older lights like mine. Unlike incandescents this one is plastic, as it runs cool. The top is frosted.I chose this because it comes from a recognised and trusted main brand, and I'm glad I paid a bit more for it. I'm fed up with the number of faulty budget LED lamps I've had recently - all of them from sources I've never heard of. I throw them away so fast it's a false economy. I've been buying Compton lamps for years, and they have a physical UK presence, and offer good support. I've just ordered more lamps from them as spares, and I'm happy to recommend them to you.

And on the next day delivery they said, "let there be light". And lo, there was light. Shining bright and leading the way.
