The Elegant Life: Rooms That Welcome and Inspire

This was a very good book representing some of the work of Mr. Papachristidis. The entrance hall to the designer’s nephew’s home featured on page nine was my absolute favorite part of the book. The custom de Gournay mural was positively dreamy. I also loved the kitchen featured on pages 104-105 but that might be because it’s painted the exact same shade of Benjamin Moore paint as my own. Probably 40% of the interiors featured were neutrals, and those just don’t interest me at all. I love this designer’s grasp of using color and pattern, a skill that seems to be missing from many designers today. It shows personality and piques interest.

Wonderful book! Many great ideas here that are useful and imaginative if you can’t afford to hire someone like this.What’s also nice is that it covers a broad range of styles, all of them polished and well done.I especially like the way he uses vintage pieces and antiques mixed in with contemporary pieces. It gives the interiors life and uniqueness.This is a great addition to my library.

Reading and learning about design is one of my hobbies , and this book is both a visual feast and a lesson in elegance and sophistication. Whether your home is an apartment or a country house, traditional or contemporary, American or European, Alex Papachristidis knows how to bring out the best in every dwelling. A remarkable collection, absolute perfection.

Really unapproachable designs....

This is the most beautiful book I have seen since his last book. He is a master decorator with exquisite style.

This book is a must buy for design enthusiasts. Alex Papachristidis is wonderfully thoughtful and has incredible range and imagination. You will learn so much about the decorative arts, design history, and how to delight the senses and live elegantly within the home. Treat yourself to something next level and buy a copy!

The Elegant Life is a master class in design and a total indulgence. Each project is lush with details - a feast for the eyes. I'm giving dozens as holiday gifts. My favorite is the house in Athens, Greece over looking the Acropolis.

A wonderful gift for the holiday season

I enjoyed most of the designs from this iconic designer but agree that when he plays with more bold colours and textures it is far more interesting than the neutrals. Alex is always over the top and I would consider some of these designs to be more understated but that provides contrast and balance I guess.
