Bates Men's Tactical Sport 2 Combat Boot

Lightweight, comfortable after adding an insole, a composite toe that meets safety standards. They are the perfect work boot. Company sizing is accurate, maybe run a little on the large side. Roomy toe box, but x-wide is even better. Well built, quality boots.

These boots are absolutely the best work boot I've owned. After nearly three month's use, here is my assessment. Fit: they are absolutely true to size. My size 10 foot pushes up on the exact line between 10 and 10 1/2. This makes shoe purchases difficult for me, dependant on the last. The Bates Tactical allows just a fraction extra length so my foot feels totally comfortable all day long and never pushes up against the toe, even carrying a heavy loads down hill. Comfort: the combination of water proof fabric and leather make these boots extremely comfortable and easy to break in within a few days. Even better, the side zipper makes them a breeze to get in and out of. The plastic eyelet at the fifth lace point allows me to tie off the lace below the ankle for extra freedom of movement when I don't need the support; and won't come undone when getting in and out via the side zipper. Weight: this is the best feature. These hard-toe work boots weight about as much as a pair of lightweight hiking boots! Compared to the bulk of 3- 5 lbs shoes out there (and I've tried them all) these boots are a cloud to walk in.I'll address some of the negative reviews I read. First, if you plan to throw these boots into a wood chipper or drag the toes over concrete regularly, these may not be the best for you. The leather over the toe box feels a little lighter than heavier boots with metal toe caps. Also legitimate is the complaint that the seam dividing the lower and upper parts of the tongue wears on the ankle. Bates would be wise to redesign the tongue so that seam falls lower on the sides. I used a needle and thread to put an 1/8" dart on the inside seam. This was probably unnecessary as after a few days wear the boots broke in with no more issue. If you experience that problem, my advice would be to first wear the boots a few hours a day at home until they break in.All in all, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. These are super light, super comfortable, super smart-looking safety boots I can wear all day long, even just for hanging out!

Warm boots

Loving my boots!! Finally, footwear MY SIZE that actually fit comfortably as if I had 5 toes on each foot!!! Usually footwear MY SIZE are made for those with four toed feet!!! Toe box on these Bate's boots have ample room for ALL my toes!

Had a similar pair of Bates boots. Wore them daily and had them for years without issue.Purchased these a little over a month ago.All of the eyelets in the boots are plastic and melted into place. They have all failed. I purchased replacement metal eyelets and so far the have done alright.The side clips for the laces where the speed lace hooks used to be have failed as well. These simply snapped. The leather is also showing multiple scratches. I am not rough on these boots and I ky where them to do home visiting. There is no reason these boots should have this level of wear after a month and it's shameful that parts of them have simply failed.I held on to them because the last pair lasted so long. These are clearly a sharp reduction in quality of materials and workmanship. Never again.

I've gone through 3 pairs of these boots. Two pair were better than the ones I'm using now. However when they go bad or in the process of going bad, I wouldn't recommend wearing them. My heels and ankle are the first to suffer. There is little to no support. The left side is the worst. If you choose to where these boots I recommend you watch how long they last. I still like them but the end result is the same. My last pair only lasted about a month or two where the last 2 lasted about 6 months ore more.

Out of the box, you have to adjust the lacest to match your foot. That's it! I had to adjust the bottom laces looser because i do have wide feet. Once I adjusted my laces, because they have wide width in my size, these fit perfect for me. It is comfortable for me to walk around in and firm enough to walk on the rocks. I would usually buy a size higher to fit, but no more. The bottom of the boot has more tread then what I had been buying and the material looks and feels more durable.I gave it five stars because of the fit and comfort which is hard to find and I will buy these again. I had been buying Skechers, but they no longer offer the extra wide boots. Material wise, these are far superior.
