Tasty and easy to make
This kit is really the sauce and instructions, but a rendang is quite a chore if you are making the sauce yourself, so I think this kit is worthwhile and I have bought it several times. I usually follow the option in the instructions to add potatoes, although that is not essential. Although my end results are not as dry as the many rendangs I have eaten in Malaysia and Singapore, they are tasty and we enjoy them.

Expensive but worth it for the taste!
I bought this to try it out for a Christmas meal alternative. The box comes with all necessary ingredients, all you need to add is meat, water and time! I followed the instructions to the letter and the result was just perfect! The curry is so full of flavours and tasty, I can’t wait to make it again. The only thing I will do when I make it again is to add some fresh chilli to it when cooking, just to spice it up a little. The whole family finished it off really quickly, so “as is” it suits tastes from mild to spicy! Try it today, you’ll love it!

The laksa noodle kits by Prima are *really* good and worth the money all day long. However this Rendang kit was just 'OK' rather than blowing me away. You can make a better version for the same cost by buying the ingredients yourself.

Successful dinner :)
Sis and I enjoyed a beef version of this Rendang kit. I don't feel that the 12hr marinade is necessary. A long slow cook is sufficient.cons: Rendang is supposed to be a dry curry. This was very 'wet'.I feel that some floating spices were missing.End addition of roasted coconut missing.pros: Very tasty. Not spicy, so my sis and I were pleased as we can't handle much chilli.Lovely red oil slick on top of the pan while the beef simmered until soft.Glad that they'd not added extra roasted coconut at the end of cooking.If using beef, use a very lean cut, eg flank steak, and create large chunks rather than small ones.
