UPDATE: Safely caught a second mouse in the garage. Released unharmed.Received this trap (x2) yesterday. Put it out with cookies and peanuts in my kitchen as bait. By 5:25 this morning I caught a little mouse. He was unharmed and secure in the trap. Some people said the mice or rats scraped their face on the metal bars at one end trying to get out. So I wrapped the vertical metal sections with painters tape (still leaving open vertical spaces) so they would not scrape themselves. The mouse chewed a little tape, but no scrapes or blood. It was safe. We released it away from the house outside. I am very pleased with this trap, but I wanted to take care that the mice don’t scrape their snouts. I did see where the mouse left marks on the metal from some biting, so I will continue to wrap it with tape when I use them to make a buffer on the metal. I’d also suggest checking the traps often so the mouse isn’t trapped long and trying to bite its way out.
