My Arcade DGUN-2937 Retro Converter for HDMI to Composite, White

I decided to go with this product over the more cheap options you tend to see on Amazon. So far it’s worked exceedingly well with some tweaking! This device basically converts 16:9 hdmi video to a 4:3 signal. From information online it seemed like these types of hdmi to AV conversions weren’t the best option for something like retro gaming, but I’ve found the results to look surprisingly well. For best results in my case, I changed the resolution to 1280x720 within windows. When using an emulator such as PCSX2 for example, make sure you’re displaying the game in a 16:9 aspect ratio. You will get the black bars using 4:3 on your CRT TV no matter what unless your PC can output a proper 4:3 signal which mine (and most modern systems) cannot. Testing the results between this and native ps2 hardware I did not see too much of a difference in terms of display. There’s also the added benefit of being able to upscale textures and tweak what you wish via an emulator. Older games seem to pop out and look really good with the TV’s scan-lines. If you’re also wanting to watch 4:3 video content I’ve found using the Firefox extension “ultra wideo” gives you an option to stretch full screen video to properly fit the display, eliminating the black bars on the CRT for a proper 4:3 experience. I had thought that I would need to use something like CRT emudriver and buy an old video card to get a proper CRT display from a modern PC, but this product basically eliminates that for me. There are probably some marginal differences in quality going down that route versus a convertor like this, but I’d highly recommend it if you don’t want to do that. It seems to also work well with my Nintendo switch playing retro games. Hope this review helps anyone who might’ve had the same concerns as me!

I was skeptical at first b/c I wasn’t sure if it would work on my Pandora Arcade console. I’m glad I made the purchase. Used the adapter to connect with my crt tv and it works flawless!

This converter is GREAT! We have a huge analog TV in our finished basement, and using this converter, we were able to connect our teenage son's PS4 or Nintendo Switch (whichever he'd want to play at the time), letting him take over the basement TV, thus freeing up the family room set for my husband and I. I can't recommend this enough to anyone wanting to connect a modern system to an older tv!

The media could not be loaded. Bought this to play indie games on an old tube TV. The first unit arrived and would only display a black/white image for a second before going blank. Contacted the My Arcade tech support, came to the conclusion that the unit was defective. Ordered a replacement from Amazon cause My Arcade would've taken weeks to get a replacement. The second unit, the image keeps flickering. Tried turning the resolution down on the Nintendo Switch but didn't help.Other then that. I'm disappointed that there is no image scaling options. Sense the original image is 16:9, getting it to fit on a 4:3 screen the image get squashed. I.e. squares and circles become rectangles and ovals. Wished the adapter had an option to crop out the left and right edges of the image so the image isn't squashed. It's advertised on the box to be used on CRT TVs, so I was hoping it'd be more compatible with old TVs.

Seems to be a lot of confusion about what this is for.This device allows you to display an HDMI signal on an RCA A/V display, like an older television. Biggest issue is that image is scaled to full screen which is terrible in many cases, a deal-breaker for me.Seems likes some of the other buyers were looking to convert in the other direction, and play RCA A/V devices like NES console on modern HDMI only screens. That's a different products, and there are lots to choose from.

This review is based on the last review from Alex. What you have to realize is some adapters are HDMI in to RCA out only and some adapters are RCA in to HDMI out only and there might be adapters that are capable of both but I don't remember seeing any but I don't doubt that they're out there.

So i finally recieved my product and i was excited, I was thinking i can finally play my N64 on my HDMI television. Wrong not only did the product arrive and disappoint me in so many levels, it came with much disappointment that i will list them in order. Number one, Does not come with a power supply. You need to have a 5V power supply thats USB and no not micro like it shows in the picture.Next it does not come with the hdmi cable as well instead it comes with a double sided RCA which i don't understand because the point of this is to have your console play on your hdmi tv. Last but not least this is my favorite, after testing every cable and different power supply seems my unit was DOA so i wasted time and money and i definitely will not buy anything from My Arcade and you all shouldn't either. I rather find a different solution at least that will turn on.
