I am used to receiving flimsy, poorly built units of other brands. This one feels professional in comparison. For example the "open" button has a good tactile feel when pressed. Others were harder to find, much less press. The cable is built-in and has a properly sized cutout on the bottom to hold the cable for transport or storage.I was pleased with the speed and it connected correctly to my PC. The packaging was surprisingly good and it came with a small user manual.

This is great and did exactly what I needed and was worth the price! The design for the CD burner itself is very sleek and wasn't too bulky/awkward. There's a place on the bottom of the device that lets you fold the attached USB cord up and it keeps the cord neat/protected/organized, and is good for storing the device after it's been used. The best part of this product is the instruction manual that comes with it. The instructions are worded well and make what could be a confusing and stressful task into one that makes sense and is easy to figure out. The instructions also explicitly cover both Mac/iOS configurations and Windows configurations, so the device is not only usable on most computers, but you know how to use it on most devices too. Great product and a really easy way to preserve physical media!

I'm not technically inclined, so it did take a bit of time to download the necessary app. [BTW, device works only with the proprietary app.]I've only used one commercial DVD so far [Dexter so, if it matters.] But playback went well, nice & crisp, good sound. I don't need a bunch of bells & whistles, just the typical viewing-- play, FF, REW, pause, skip. Those worked just fine..CONSI would have liked a 10-30 second rewind, as I sometimes miss a sentence or piece of action.The disc tray is slow to respond & needs to be manually extended to place/remove the disc. I've heard this is standard on an external drive, but it still bothers me.All in all, it does all it needs to & is worth the money.The cable is short. But that's probably a safety thing.

Bought this cause my current laptop does not have a CD drive. My car is older and has a CD player, I have a lot of out-of-print music that I have stored in my computer that I wanted to listen to - this did the trick. Seems to have the most purchases and reviews from other burners in its category, not ganna lie, that's what kind of influenced me to buy this one but now that I have it I'm glad I did. Has a handy little groove too where you can attach the cord when not in use.

I had a little trouble getting things going, but when I figured it out, the sound is awesome. When I bought my laptop, I failed to notice there was no CD player in it. In some respects, I think I like this auxiliary one better because on my other laptop, I sometimes have trouble getting the player to open. This is much easier.

The item came in good time and well boxed. I had to wait for a week or so to test it out. But, it was a plug and play. I have a 2023 Mac Mini with a usb cord attached. I attached the device to the usb head, and things took a minute to happen when I put a CD into it, but then it came up fine. I've only tested with 1 music cd that had been burned, and the music came up fine. Next I will try data transfers etc....will update more as I explore. So far I'm happy. The cord was not problem, being able to use the usb extension cord...and the short cord on the device is stored neatly under the device when not in use. This is not as sturdy as some ... but if you treat it carefully it should be fine.

I bought this burner in 2021 and have been using it on-again and off-again, but recently it hasn't been able to burn any of my blank CD's (DVD's still burn though). For some reason, they all show up as "Full" every time I try a different CD no matter the program I use, but the CD's I've burned in the past still work and sound great. I've tried it with other computers and they do burn, so I'm not sure what the issue with this drive is, but as a simple burner, it worked well for what I needed it for. If you want to encode any metadata in any of your tracks or have zero gap tracks, this isn't the burner for you, and for the lifespan it had, you may be better off spending a couple more bucks for something higher quality (not to dismiss the quality this product already had).

I had not had the drive a year. It had worked when I fist got it, then did not need it for several months. Last night I plugged it in and everything was working fine. Tonight I try to continue using it, and it will not mount any disk I put into it. It just keeps cycling through like it’s trying to access the disk. No errors pop up no matter how long I wait. These are the same disks it had no problem with last night. All in all, I got less than 20 hours use from it, and according to Amazon there is no support. You get what you pay for.UPDATEThe drive is fine. The issue was the OSX update. No drive worked! Once Apple fixed it, the problem went away and the drive worked perfectly.
