Ideal for Carpet Fitting – Strong, Compact, and Easy to Spot
I recently used the STANLEY FATMAX Retractable Folding Utility Knife to fit a new carpet, and I couldn’t be more pleased with its performance. This knife is incredibly sturdy, made from metal, which gives it a solid, durable feel in hand. It cut through thick carpet with ease. You can tell it's built to last and handle demanding jobs. One of my favorite features is that it folds up into a compact size, making it easy to carry around in my pocket. The folding mechanism works smoothly, and once closed, it’s safe and secure. The retractable blade adds an extra layer of safety, and the built-in blade storage in the handle is super convenient, especially when you need to switch blades quickly on the job.Another bonus is the bright yellow design – it makes it easy to spot in a busy workspace, so you’re not constantly hunting around for your knife. This is such a simple but thoughtful touch, and it’s been a real time-saver for me.If you’re looking for a strong, reliable, and compact utility knife, this one is fantastic. Whether you’re fitting carpets like I did or tackling other heavy-duty tasks, the STANLEY FATMAX won’t disappoint. It’s become a go-to tool in my kit, and I highly recommend it!

A cut above the rest!
I’ve used what I would call the ‘basic’ Stanley knives for years, but recently decided I wanted a retractable, foldable knife, one that I could easily carry in my front pocket and/or clip on my belt. There’s lots of knives out there to choose from, but after checking out the different designs and brands, and reading through numerous reviews, I found that this Fatmax one offered me the best bang for my buck and had all the features and more that I required - and it was also reasonably priced!I do like that there is inbuilt blade storage and that you actually receive three pre-packed blades in there. It’s easy to access the blades and to change them and I found I could actually fold and unfold the knife one-handed. There’s a metal belt clip attached to the body of the knife, and there’s even a little divot on the bottom of the knife that can be used as a string cutter. I do like its ergonomically designed shape which incorporates a ridged silicone topped handle - making it a comfortable and safe tool to use. Overall, I’m very impressed with my new knife and it’s definitely a product I can recommend to tradespeople and DIYers like me.

A great tool for everyday use
I've had this for a few months and have used it a lot. For a lot of things. I must admit that having a stanley knife is almost addictive and becomes almost second nature after a while.I've seen quite a few different styles of stanley knives and this is probably in the middle of the pack. It's not meant for heavy-duty use, like carpet-laying, since being fold-able is less sturdy by design and thus will break sooner in those circumstances. It has a few things that make it more inclined for general use however and for that purpose, it's quite good. It has a nice grip and the rubber patch on the front means you can use it to apply quite a bit of pressure should you want to. It has a magazine for storing extra blades but you can't carry more than three, which should be enough to last anyone other than a carpet layer throughout the day. It has a nice clip that you can use to snag it to a pocket and have it ready for immediate use.One drawback is that it's not that easy to clean, mine still doesn't need it, badly, but when it will, I dread having to take it apart. Also, on some occasions the blade slider tends to get stuck for no good reason. It's probably some dirt because after a few attempts, it comes loose and works as intended. The wire cutting function is something I haven't seen in other stanley knives but it's also something I hardly ever used. It only works on very thing cables and wires and, as a consequence, is quite limited. All in all, I'm quite happy with it, it wasn't cheap but it was worth it. Would definitely recommend it.

Not deserving of the name Stanley knife...
Zero stars - this isn't a Stanley knife - it's impractical, a nuisance in terms of swapping blades (it was advertised blades were included, they weren't) and has fiddly bits of plastic. The original knife was simpler, more robust and easier to mantain.Marketing gimic, useless as a real world tool.
