Just as good as veterinarian food
My cat loved this food it was nutritional and helped out her urinary tract and was the exact same product as the veterinarian but less expensive. Had great color

CAT & MOMMY APPROVED
My cat was on Hills Prescription K/D for the past 4.5 years, but grew bored no matter what yummiest topping I used. So, I decided on Purina versus Royal Canine (UTI), because though the ingredients are animal by products, it's without wheat gluten or peas as fillers. And, also cheaper. My sweet baby boy looooves his new food. Loves all the flavors, though his favorite are both of the shredded chicken and turkey, with lots of gravy.

Great for Urinary Issues [UPDATE]
[UPDATE]It has been nearly one year since my first review and I'm happy to report that my cat has not experienced ANY veterinarian problems. No bladder issues, healthy coat, and looking great! I can't recommend this product enough! Also, you think he would get sick of eating the same food for a year straight... NOT TRUE! He makes sure I know every night when it's can time![ORIGINAL REVIEW]Two months ago (December 2013) my cat had to be brought into an emergency clinic. They proclaimed that he had a blocked bladder and required immediate medical attention, placing a catheter in him and giving him an IV. He stayed overnight and was so bad that they suggested he should stay even longer. I was told he had crystals in his urine and everything needed to be flushed out. Due to financial constraints, I took him home after one overnight stay. The medical bills were outrageous and I am just a college student. There was no way I could afford to keep him there any longer. I was told that there was a high likelihood of of him reblocking in the next few days. I did a lot of research on the internet and decided to purchase Purine One Urinary Tract dry food AND this Purine Urinary Tract canned food. I found that it is very important to include more liquids in his diet. Therefore, I started my own regimen. I feed him the dry food in the morning and afternoon and in the evening I give him one can. He is a big cat, 14 pounds, so I generally feed him quite a bit of dry food (you can find it on Amazon or even in Walmart). I make sure he has plenty of water in his bowl throughout the day. I even add ice cubes to entice him to drink more. It's so important to get those fluids in!! The first week he came home from the vet I was paranoid. I placed water bowls all over the house and put a little chicken broth in the water so he would drink it. I immediately stopped feeding him his old food (Purina Naturals) and started him on this. I feel his bladder to make sure it never feels firm like a peach (sign of obstruction). He hasn't had a single issue! I am so happy to say that this food seems to be doing wonders for him. His chances of making it through this were rough and we beat the odds. However, I would definitely suggest feeding the canned food everyday. If you can, try to feed two cans a day because that liquid is just so important. Unfortunately, I don't have it in my budget to give him two cans a day so I stick to one. Overall, great product!

So far so good!
We have a 6 year old male American Shorthair cat, named Boogie, who is MAJOE part of our family. In our household it's only my hubby and I and our cats. I am only 28 years old, however I'm disabled due to a very rare connective tissue disease. So Boogie (and our new little kitten) is my own source of company while my husband is at work. Since I am pretty much bed bound and never leave my home, you can imagine how much this kitty means to me....so when a couple months ago we almost lost him due to a severe infection caused by a urinary blockage, we were terrified and wanted to do everything we could to ensure this doesn't happen again. At first the vet said he'd have to be on prescription cat food for the rest of his life that will help with the pH balance of his urine. (They had him on Hill's Prescription Diet C/D) However with my medical bills we just could not afford the ridiculous prices, not to mention the fact that they want you to buy the food from the vet which requires driving 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back every time we ran out....simply put it just wasn't reasonable and we felt there had to be something just as good out there. So we've kept our cats (Boogie and the kitten) both on the C/D dry food, but rather than giving them the C/D wet food as well, we've gone with Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health Formula instead. Boogie prefers wet food over dry but he HATED the expensive C/D wet food, now however since we switched he LOVES the Chicken Entree flavor and eats his fill in the morning and will snack on the dry food in the evening or at night. So far so good, we've been doing this for about a month and a half and there's no signs of bladder issues. Thanks Purina for giving our fur baby a safe and reasonably price alternative that he actually enjoys eating, yet will keep him healthy. This cat's gotten me through many a hard night when I was in pain and many lonely days being stuck in a bed alone. He truly deserves the best, and I feel Purina is it.
