Use QMC5883L library not the HMC

After a lot of tries and research, the HMC library doesn't work on this module. Instead, use the QMC5883L compass module where u can just download the library using Arduino Library. But the module works and its great for the price ! so 5 start

cheap is cheap

0 stars. Ordered a qmc5883 from a different vendor, i2c scanner was unable to find it. Got this one from HiLetgo, and the i2c scanner found it fine, was working on code and librarys, and was unable to get it calibrated and stabilized reading. Came back next day to work on it again, turned on my breadboard and the magic smoke came out. I changed nothing in the wiring, just went poof... i'm done wasting my time.. ordered a genuine mag sensor from adafruit.Having said that, my adxl345 from hiletgo seems to still be working fine.

Not compatible with Adafruit's library (use QMC5883LCompass library by MRPrograms)

Buyers should no that this is not a direct replacement for Adafruit's product and it will not work right out the box with their library. I used QMC5883LCompass library by MRPrograms found in Arduino's library manager: works like a charm.

Great sensor.

Works as expected. Side story: Don't drop it. It breaks easily. My group partner and I were outside soldering jumper wires to this chip. Music was playing outside because there was a band concert at my University. If only I could attend the Spring Show. But I had to focus on my project. So we finished soldering. Then we walked back to the lab with our hands full. I tried opening the door and this chip fell. The music played on. People were cheering. I looked at the chip in shock. It was broken. I had to purchase a second one. I know it's common sense not to drop sensitive things like this. I just wanted to give you a story.

The sensor was defective

Could not get the module to work. Ran a scan and the result was "I2C device could not be found." I used the same wiring and code with a different sensor (LSM303AGR) and there was no problem, so I conclude the QMC5883L from HiLetgo was defective.

Cheap and Easy. Don't spend $$$ for overpriced Adafruit.

Way cheaper than the Adafruit. Worked just fine on a 3v rail. It's worth noting that when using an Arduino Nano while there are forum reports that the 3v rail is not active when powered by VIN. This isn't true. Go with this one, give it 3v, voltage divide the RX, and save $10.

Fun Sensor

I wanted a compass in my car so Id have a clue as to what direction I was going. I could have bought a cheap compass at a car parts store and slapped in on the dash. But, what fun would that be. So, I bought the GY-271 QMC58883L sensor, mostly to see what it would do. I wired it up to an Arduino Nano (4 jumpers), downloaded a sketch (there are several) ran it and checked the Arduino Serial Monitor. Just exactly what I wanted. Now, I just need to add an external LCD monitor.

Both of my chip dont work

The chip gets super hot when I power up the QMC5883L breakout board. I checked to make sure VCC was with VCC and GND was with GDN. Both boards have this issue.
