I am 46 years old. I have used liquid Benadryl like my whole life. My son is also a regular user. I've had name brand, CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, Publix, Eckerds, Amazon, Acme, kmart, riteaid, and several other brands. I am a generic kind of girl. On amazon alone, my order history shows I've bought 53 bottles, in several brands. It is the most restocked medicine in my house. I have never side eyed a bottle of medicine before, until now.I bought this bottle sold by Atlantic Pharma Co fulfilled by Amazon on sale for like$9.50. It was packaged and shipped as expected, full seal, expiration date well in the future. I was a happy camper, as I have always been. My son had the first dose and was all "omg, what did you give me". That has never happened with diphenhydramine. I told him just generic Benadryl like always. He was all no, this is cold medicine, one of the really awful ones too. I had to show him the bottle to prove it was not. Then I tested too. It didn't smell like generic Benadryl. It smelled like maraschino cherry syrup and v0dka. My lips went numb, mouth and throat had a burning and a numb sensation. It tasted like it smelled. Ok, probably not that, but tasted like generic adult cherry NyQuil. While I don't think I'll be finding spirit soaked cherries at the bottom, I have never tasted any liquid diphenhydramine this awful. Both my son, my husband, and I would swear it was generic cherry NyQuil. (pondering whether NyQuil is flammable to test)Anyway, I can't say why this is the worst tasting Benadryl ever, when all the others taste the same, for decades, over 100 bottles in my life, but my son's review states our households opinion on it best, and it was....."Mom, never buy this brand again"
