Q: How do you connect the roofing material? There don't appear to be connectors.

You don't-these are for tarp type coverings, so drape the tarp, tie down at base & (I use) exterior crossover rope over head to hold the tarps in place. As an aside-make sure the uprights are firmly attached to the ground-else wind will take away. Also cross brace the uprights so that weight won't cause sideways collapse.
